I was in 3rd grade when I watched this for the first time. This film introduced me to Bollywood, it also introduced me to the vibrance of Indian culture. I became a fan of Aamir Khan at the time. More Aamir Khan films in the International Goodies section

This is a trilogy, Heneral Luna (2015), Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018), and Quezon (2025). What I love about TBA's approach in these historical film as that they portrayed our historical figures more human than how we percieve them. What I mean by that is that unlike how we usually picture or portray our historical figures where we portray them as the remarkable hero that help shape our country and all that shebang, with these films, they actully dug up some dirt about them and portrayed their flaws in the film, which I think made them more human than a historical figure we glaze upon because of their contribution in our country. It's in a way to remind us that we humans are not black and white, that sometimes, a person who did remarkable things can also have their bad side, and vice versa. I'm yapping too much about this now, just go and watch this trilogy, it's great
Musical aside, this film actually had a lot of witty lines, I love it! I adored Donald O'Connor's role here, and boi do I just love Gene Kelly

Personally, I think this is the best Monty Python for me. This is one of my favorite scenes from this film. And this too. God, there's just so much iconic scenes I love from this film, I want to share them all but it's best if you watch the whole movie yourself atp haha!
Also fun fact: George Harrison funded this film just because he wanted to see the movie haha. No, i'm not kidding, go look it up. Ya boi do love Monty Python lmao, he even had a cameo in it, it's hilarious (well, if you're a Monty Python fan and a Beatles fan, it is funny, trust me)

This film was my gateway to silent films. When I first discovered this as a kid, I thought these silent films were such a wonderful thing, I went out looking for more which is how I ended up becoming a fan of Buster Keaton. Ever since my discovery of Buster Keaton, I branched out and discovered more silent filmmakers like Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Roscoe Arbuckle,D.W. Griffith, the Lumière brothers and so much more. Also, discovered talented actresses at the time such as Lillian Gish, Clara Bow, Gloria Swanson and so so so much more!

I think this is the first independent film (in old films) that I've seen. I originally knew a clip of it through Neave.tv and got me curious from which movie was it from. And there I found this masterpiece.

The overall visual for this film is clearly a piece of art. Every frame's a painting. I also love Anderson's playfulness with the aspect ratio. Don't get me even started with the scriptwriting! The dialogues were IMMACULATE
